Software:
The Multiskop performs angle ellipsometric measurements in a variety of different modes:
Multi-zone measurement
The Nullsetting of the optical components is automatically identified - independ of the setting of polarizer, analyzer or of the choosen amplification of the detector. The ellipsometric angles Delta and Psi are determined on the basis of
the Nullsettings of the polarization setting in the different zones. The data can be imported in the data evaluation program by one mouse-click.

Angle dependent ellipsometry reflection scans
The following input is required: upper and lower limit of the angle of incidence and the angle increment. The measurement is fully automated and graphically displayed.
The user has an online control of the signals. The insets show the parabolic signal Intensity versus polarizer and analyzer setting. The detector is computer controlled and the best amplification is chosen automatically. The dynamic range of the amplifier hosts 8 decades. Highly reflecting surfaces can be quant ranging from the total reflection mode to measurements close to the Brewster angle. Only a single mouseclick is required to imported the data in the data evaluation program. Angle dependent measurements eliminate several inherent ambiguities and put the data analysis on a sound basis.

Kinetic runs
Ellipsometry is an excellent tool to follow adsorption processes in situ.
The mass coverage and thickness of the adsorption layer is monitored and the adsorption isotherm as well as the underlying kinetics are studied. Optrel can supply a cells for solid/liquid interfaces or liquid-liquid interfaces.

Additonal channels
In many kinetic runs you would like to record additional experimental parameters such as temperature, surface tension, huminity, pH value. This can be achieved in a variety of different ways with the Multiskop software. A elegant solution is the use of the free channels of the ADDA converter. The external parameter are recorded, stored and displayed. So you can generate runs time, Delta, Psi, temperature, pH-value. The menu allows you also to select an external parameter as a x-axis. For instance you can display the measurment y-axis: Delta, Psi, x-axis: temperature.
trinsic errors due to slight misalignments of the sample or imperfections of the sample. Nullellipsometry means select a setting of the optical components that cancel the light at the detector. The corresponding Nullsetting of the optical components provides the ellipsometric angles Delta and Psi.
