The founders:

Dr. Orendi received his PhD at the M.P.I. for Polymer research in Mainz, Germany on the topic of phase behaviour of liquid crystals. He completed postdoctoral research at the Riken Institute in Tokyo, Japan (anchoring of liquid crystals) and has been working as a research scientist since 1994 in the area of solid state physics at the University of Potsdam. |

Dr. Motschmann also received his PhD at the M.P.I. for Polymer research Mainz in the area of the adsorption properties of polymers. He did postdoctoral research at the Corporate Research Laboratories at Eastman Kodak USA (designing devices for nonlinear optics). Since 1994 he is a staff scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Golm. |
